Faculty and Staff Bios

Lee Revere, Ph.D., Associate Professor

Lee Revere is the Program Director and Faculty Chair of Healthcare Administration at the University of Houston – Clear Lake. She received a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1992, a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University in 1997 and a Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of South Florida in 2002. After graduation from Georgia Tech, Dr. Revere worked as a consultant for SunHealth Enterprises, a consortium of 300 + hospitals. Later she joined Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word as a data analyst for clinical quality reporting. In 1993, Dr. Revere joined Humana Health Plans of Texas as their Director of Member Services. In 1997, Dr. Revere became the Executive Director for HealthHelp Networks, a state-wide radiology independent practice associations serving over 125 radiology practices. Dr. Revere left HelpHealth Networks to pursue an academic career in healthcare. In 2000, Dr Revere joined the University of Houston – Clear Lake where she teaches quantitative and statistical courses to Business and MBA students. In 2009, she was appointed as School of Business coordinator for assessment. She has taken a leadership role in assessment, including the development and oversight for an assessment database. Dr. Revere has focused much of her time on researching the application of quantitative methods to improve healthcare quality, processes and decision-making. Her secondary research interests include educational techniques and training aimed at the adult learner and assessment of learning. Her research has been published in a number of healthcare and business journals.
 


  Ashish Chandra, Ph.D., Professor

Dr. Ashish Chandra (MMS, Banaras Hindu University, MBA and Ph.D. from University of Louisiana –   Monroe) joined as Department Chair and Professor of Healthcare Administration Program at UHCL i n Fall 2007.  Prior to coming to UHCL, Dr. Chandra was a faculty in the Graduate School of Management at Marshall University where he also served as the coordinator of the graduate Healthcare Administration Program. He is the recipient of a number of prestigious awards at Marshall University, including the Distinguished Artists and Scholars Award (the highest research award at that University), the Outstanding Graduate Advisor Award, the Outstanding Graduate Faculty and the Outstanding Researcher Awards in the Lewis College of Business at Marshall University.  He has also received numerous best paper awards at various conferences.  Besides his awards Dr. Chandra is also very active in various professional organizations and has served the Program Chair (2007-08) and President (2008-09) of the Federation of Business Disciplines (2008-09), the Program Chair (2006-07) and President (2007-08) of MBAA International, the Program Chair (2004-05) and President (2005-06) of the Association of Collegiate Marketing educators, and the Program Chair (2000-01) and President (2001-02) of the Business and Health Administration Association.  He also served as Program Chair for the Third International Conference on Healthcare Systems and has served on the organizing committee of International Conference on Healthcare Systems since 1999. He is the author of more than 200 professional publications.  Currently, he is serving as the Executive Editor of the journal Hospital Topics, the oldest journal in the healthcare administration field and is an editorial board member of Health Marketing Quarterly, Health Care Manager, and the International Journal of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Marketing. He specializes in Healthcare Marketing, Management of Medical Technology, Health Policy, Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management, and Health Ethics.

 

   Dan Martin, Executive-in-Residence

Mr. Dan Martin (MHA, Trinity University) was recently named Executive-in-Residence for the Healthcare Administration Program at UHCL. Mr. Martin brings with him more than 20 years experience as a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in various hospitals, including Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in Houston and the Angleton-Danbury Medical Center. Prior to becoming a healthcare executive, he served in clinical positions, which include Laboratory and Anatomical Pathology at Scott & White in Temple, Texas, and with the United States Army at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, Texas. He is an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives

  

   Phillip J. Decker, Ph.D., Professor

Dr. Phillip Decker ( Ph.D., The Ohio State University; B.S., San Diego State University) specializes in Human Resource Management, Organization Change, Quality Improvement, Nursing Management, Strategic Planning and Marketing. He has done extensive work in hospitals and with JACHO. He is an author of numerous publications in professional journals, including Journal of Applied Psychology, Hospitals and Health Services Administration, Journal of Nursing Administration, and Personal Psychology. Apart from this, he has written twelve books in various areas including nursing management.


 

   Raymond J. Khoury, Executive-in-Residence

Mr. Khoury has been in the healthcare field since 1966. He has served as system Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Hospital CEO and corporate vice president for 35 plus years. Has experience in all aspects of healthcare delivery; Board relations, Medical staff and community relations.


  • Successfully lead: cultural transformation, turnaround situations, ambulatory care centers, sports medicine centers, clinics, acute care hospitals, mental health hospitals, women hospitals, and rehab. Facilities, nursing homes, IPA’s, HMO’s, PHO, cancer centers, medical school relationships, teaching hospitals and residencies, hospital acquisition, sale and conversion.
  • During his tenure, initiated and successfully completed the construction and development of several hospital facilities and services: such as the opening of St. John Hospital (next to the Space Center), and the expansion of St. Joseph Hospital in Houston.
  • Developed and implemented successful managed care strategies and has multiple hospital management experience.
  • Acted as an international consultant in Taiwan, advising the government on health care provider issues.


 

   Dianne B. Love, Ph.D., Associate Professor

Dr. Love (Ph.D., Accounting, University of Arkansas; MBA, and B.S., Secondary Education, Auburn University) specializes in Managed Care, Healthcare Accounting and Finance, and Group Practice Management. She was Vice-President and Co-Founder, Amedica Corporation. She was also a Consultant for Affiliated Healthcare, Inc., affiliated Medical Companied, Corydon Management Company. She also belongs to such professional associations as American Accounting Association, Healthcare Financial management Association, Medical Group Management Association and past president of Gulf Coast Chapter of HFMA. She also is a frequent lecturer on healthcare issues at the local, state and regional level.

 

 

   Femi Ayadi, Ph.D., Assistant Professor

Dr. Ayadi (Ph.D., M.A., Georgia State University, B.S., University of Ibadan) focuses her research in Economic and Health Service Research in maternal and Child Health; economic Evaluation of Public Health Interventions; Uncompensated Care; and Health Care Financing.  She was a Former Health Economist, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC). She also has Publications in several professional journals, including American Journal of Preventive Medicine, Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports, and Health care Financing Review, Public Health Reports, and Expert Review of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research. She serves on editorial advisor Board for European Journal of Scientific and European Journal of Social Sciences.  She also belongs to professional associations such as the American Economic Association, International Health Economics association, the American Public Health Association, and member of the local and national American college of Healthcare Executives.
